TWO county residents will be sentenced next month after they pleaded guilty to assaulting a man in Tranent.

Chloe French, 20, and 19-year-old Bradley Colborne attacked Hugh Doherty at the junction of the town’s Bridge Street and New Row.

The pair, while acting along with others, chased the man before catching up with him and struggling with him in July 2019.

French, of the town’s Forrester’s View, and Colborne, of Florabank Road in Haddington, then repeatedly kicked Mr Doherty on the head and body and punched him to the head to his injury.

French and Colborne were due to stand trial on the matter last Friday but pleaded guilty to an amended charge before the trial could commence.

Sheriff Peter McCormack deferred sentence on the pair to next month for the preparation of social work reports.

French and Colborne pleaded guilty to assaulting Hugh Doherty in Tranent on July 13, 2019.
