A MAN has been fined after he made threats to kill a Haddington couple’s grandson.

Liam Dunn, of Stenton Road, West Barns, appeared at an address at Lynn Lea Avenue with others and demanded the man come outside.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard that the homeowner felt “threatened by the shouting” and telephoned her husband for assistance at about 9am on November 6 last year.

Threats to kill the grandson were made by 25-year-old Dunn during the incident.

Lawyer Angela Craig, representing Dunn, said that her client’s father had been the victim of an alleged assault and Dunn had been “very distressed” at the attack.

Ms Craig said that Dunn had gone to the property of the alleged attacker’s grandparents in the “heat of the moment”.

Sheriff Frank Crowe said that it had been “a very frightening incident for the folk involved here” and issued council worker Dunn with a £340 fine to mark the offence.
