A CROSSING on a busy road in the centre of Dunbar looks set to finally be switched on.

East Lothian Council created the toucan crossing on Spott Road, near the business centre, at the end of February.

The crossing is wider than a pedestrian crossing and allows for both pedestrians and cyclists to cross safely.

Questions have been asked as to when the crossing will officially come into use, with the lights currently not switched on.

According to Dunbar Community Council: “Many people have been asking about when the lights at the pedestrian crossing near the Spott Road Business Centre will be turned on.

"Information from East Lothian Council transportation is that the work to connect the power by ScottishPower is programmed for August 10.

"The signals will be turned on shortly after that.”
