ULTRAFAST broadband is to be expanded in Gullane and East Linton under new plans.

Lothian Broadband Group is looking to expand its reach and investments within both East Lothian and Midlothian.

Gullane is the next location, with work on the 1,600-premise build starting this month, with the first customers being connected in September.

Further work in East Linton and Pathhead will start shortly afterwards, with the entire network builds across all locations complete by the end of the year.

Gavin Rodgers, CEO at Lothian Broadband Group (LBG), said: “Our latest full fibre broadband investments will give local businesses and residents access to ultrafast broadband that is not only as fast as anywhere else in the UK but also reliable and affordable.”

LBG has recently secured £25m in funding to support its rollout strategy of transforming Scotland’s rural communities that do not have access to a gigabit-capable internet connection.

The company’s ultrafast broadband network has already been fully rolled out in Gifford, Longniddry and Pencaitland in the first half of 2022.
