American Cameron Tringale leads the Genesis Scottish Open after course-record equalling 61 lit up the Renaissance Club.

The 55th ranked player in the world set a blistering pace at the county course that leaves him three shots ahead of the nearest challenger Gary Woodland.

Tringale got off to a strong start, making three birdies in the front nine before an incredible spell that saw him birdie every hole from 10 to 15 to finish on nine-under par.

Scot Ewen Ferguson remains the highest placed Briton in the field after a three-under 67 saw the young Glaswegian get off to a great start.

Pre-tournament favourites Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith and Jordan Spieth are all one shot behind the Scot sitting on two under.

East Lothian's own Grant Forrest had a more difficult day out on the links, shooting a four over 74, leaving an uphill battle to make the cut on a day where he struggled on the greens.

He tees off tomorrow at 1.55pm hoping to get his tournament back on track on what will prove to be another great day on Scotland's Golf Coast.
