A PRESTONPANS man who was abusive towards his partner will be sentenced later this month.

Cornelius Murphy, 29, engaged in a course of conduct that was deemed abusive over a two-year period.

Murphy repeatedly made unwanted contact with the woman by phone, text and social media, while he also made threats to harm and kill himself.

Murphy, currently staying at the Seaglass Inn, Links Road, Port Seton, also repeatedly sent the woman unwanted gifts and on one occasion he seized her by the body.

All the offences took place at an address in Broomhouse in Edinburgh between September 1, 2019, and October 28 last year.

Murphy, formerly of Acheson Drive, Prestonpans, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Friday, where he pleaded guilty to the amended charges.

Sheriff John Cook deferred sentence on Murphy to July 27 for the preparation of social work reports.
