THREE drivers have been warned after being caught flouting traffic restrictions outside Haddington schools.

Community police officers were on the town’s Neilson Park Road and Victoria Road last Wednesday morning. Traffic restrictions were introduced on the two streets, as well as Wemyss Place, in 2018 in a bid to make it safer for youngsters making their way to and from school.

The restrictions are in place 8.30-9.30am and 3-4pm Monday to Thursday.

Vehicles are also banned from the streets 8.30-9.30am and 11.45am-12.45pm on Fridays.

The restrictions are only in place during term time.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said the issue had been highlighted as a local policing priority.

They added: “Three drivers were warned regarding accessing these roads during the prohibited times.

Officers will continue to enforce this and will be issuing vehicle tickets should the TRO (traffic regulation order) continue to be contravened.”
