County boxer Josh Taylor has announced that he has put his honeymoon on hold in preparation for his next title fight.

Taylor got married to his high school sweetheart Danielle in a lavish ceremony at Kinmount House in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Prestonpans pair, who now reside in Haddington, got engaged aboard a luxury boat in Dubai in December 2020.

But speaking to BBC Radio Five Live's boxing podcast about the wedding, the unified light-welterweight champion said the honeymoon will be put on the “back burner”.

He said: "It was fantastic, we had a great weekend.

"Friday was a get together with both families getting to know each other and then the Saturday was the wedding which was amazing.

"We had the weather too which is unusual in bonnie Scotland.

"It was a real happy time for myself and my new wife and she is just the happiest woman alive.

"Since we have been back home people have been coming over and dropping off wedding gifts and things like that so it's been pretty cool.

"We were going to get away but Top Rank have said there will maybe be a fight in September so I just said 'We will just put it on the back burner. Back to business.'"

Taylor will face off with the WBC's mandatory challenger Jose Zepeda in September, with eyes also turning to a potential re-match with Jack Catterall afterwards.
