A PORT Seton man has been cleared of attempting to pervert the course of justice by tampering with a urine sample following an alleged motoring offence.

Robert Baxter was alleged to have failed to provide police officers with a urine sample required under the Road Traffic Act 1988 at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh on June 16, 2020.

The 75-year-old was also charged with tampering with a urine sample by allegedly pouring water into it in order to dilute it at the same location on the same date.

But when the case called at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday, the Crown said they were no longer pursuing a conviction and the case was being treated as not called.
