MORE than 1,600 people visited historic Newhailes House in Musselburgh to enjoy the sold out Festhailes music festival at the beginning of May.

The family friendly event featured a line-up of Scottish acts including Rest in Pisces, Basically Nocturnal, Daniel Meade and The Basement Boogiemen, Blue Rose Code, Mark Sharp and the Bicycle Thieves, The Ronains, Have Mercy Las Vegas and Kyle Falconer.

Claire Grant, Edinburgh operations manager for the National Trust of Scotland which maintains Newhailes, said: “We were delighted to welcome so many families to Newhailes on Saturday to enjoy Festhailes’ line up of talented Scottish performers.

“We love our community – and it’s felt wonderful to welcome them back with joy-filled events in this unique setting, where we can all enjoy the nature, beauty and heritage that makes Newhailes so special.”

Families enjoyed face-painting, child-friendly fairground rides, as well as food and drinks provided by vintage food trucks on the lawn in front of Newhailes House.
