A MODEL boat exhibition showcasing the fishing heritage of Cockenzie and Port Seton will take place this weekend.
Boatie Blest Heritage: Model Boats of Cockenzie & Port Seton, 3D Scanning event aims to display model boats which will be scanned by Mike Boyd from the University of Edinburgh.
Each day, from tomorrow (Friday) to Sunday, the exhibition will be open to the public so they can see the boats come to life on screen – the first chance locals will have after the exhibition’s two-year hiatus.
A Boatie Blest Heritage spokesperson said: “Model boats have gone on show as part of an annual exhibition on the fishing and boat building heritage of Cockenzie and Port Seton during the 3 Harbours Arts Festival since 2006.
“In order to have a record of as many boats as possible, the heritage group will be creating a three-dimensional digital archive.
“Stories related to the models will be recorded and the result will be an online archive and virtual exhibition that will be an inspirational resource of the fishing and boat-building heritage of Cockenzie and Port Seton.”
The project was made possible with funding from Salt of the Earth PSG Heritage Connections.
The spokesperson added: “We are also grateful for the support of uCreate Makerspace, the University of Edinburgh.”
The exhibition will be open on Friday between 10am and 3.30pm, Saturday between 11am and 4.30pm, and Sunday 2pm to 4.30pm at the Old Parish Church Hall on Cockenzie High Street.
