Business owners will get the chance to hear about a new project to create “a vibrant virtual community” which could be launched in Musselburgh.

Kirsty Mcintosh, head of partnerships for the Scottish Tech Army, is the guest speaker at Musselburgh Business Partnership’s next meeting on Wednesday at 7pm in the upstairs floor of S Luca cafe on High Street.

The organisation is looking at Musselburgh following a pilot of a virtual high street project in Dunbar, which was chosen last year by the Scottish Tech Army for SOLE (Supporting Our Local Economy) Scotland. It aims to bring together communities to support each other and the local economy.

Under the motto ‘Digital footfall for Scotland’s high streets’, SOLE Scotland promotes local services, businesses and amenities, giving people the opportunity to shop, book and engage locally when physical shopping is not possible due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The volunteers in the Scottish Tech Army are working with organisations across Scotland to deliver digital solutions to help them deal with the issues that were caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the challenges of how to recover and rebuild.

Musselburgh business owners will get an overview of the work to date, as well as hearing about plans for the coming months and how this could benefit Musselburgh.
