A COUNTY man who attacked his partner with a knife is facing a lengthy prison sentence.
David Moffat stood trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week after denying he assaulted the woman with the blade at a property in Prestonpans.
But following two days of evidence, Moffat, c/o HMP Glenochil, was found guilty by a jury of the assault on the woman in July last year.
The jury found that Moffat had repeatedly struck the victim on the head and, after brandishing the knife at her, he struck her with the blade, all to her injury.
The jury delivered a not guilty verdict to a second charge of Moffat being found in possession of a knife at Prestonpans’ Preston Crescent on the same date. The 36-year-old was remanded in custody and will be sentenced later this month.
Moffat was found guilty of assaulting the woman by repeatedly striking her to the head and striking her with a knife at an address on Middleshot Square, Prestonpans, on July 4 last year.
