A CLASSICAL singer from Longniddry took to the football pitch to sing in front of thousands of Hibernian FC fans as she was announced as the first entertainment act at an awards ceremony planned for later this year.

Ciara Harvie, 23, of King’s Avenue, has been confirmed as the first musical act to perform at the Hibernian Football Club’s Player of the Year Awards, which will be held in May.

It follows a performance from the singer at Easter Road both pre-match and at half-time during the Premiership match against St Johnstone earlier this month.

The former Preston Lodge High School student sang Sunshine On Leith and Nessun Dorma, and was well received by supporters.

Hibernian FC’s Player of the Year Awards will be the first celebratory ceremony held by the club since 2019, and will take place at Edinburgh International Conference Centre on May 15.

Ciara appeared on ITV’s The Voice UK in 2017 and performed at her second Edinburgh Fringe Festival concert, titled Cinema Paradiso, last summer. She also performed Cinema Paradiso’s movie theme song, Se, at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow in June 2017.
