Two East Lothian schools are gunning for glory at national rugby finals at BT Murrayfield tomorrow (Wednesday).

Loretto are in the under-18s' shield final of the Scottish Rugby Boys' Schools Cup while North Berwick High School are desperate for silverware in the under-16s' shield final.

Loretto will face Queen Victoria School from Dunblane, having progressed 34-0 against Preston Lodge High School in the semi-final in February.

A school spokesperson said: "We are delighted to be competing in the under-18 Shield Final on Wednesday.

"Reaching the final is testament to the hard work and commitment of the players and staff, and we thank our wonderful supporters for cheering us on.

"We wish everyone taking part in the Scottish Rugby Boys School Cup Finals all the very best."

The match will take place at DAM Health Stadium, the new home of Edinburgh Rugby, adjacent to BT Murrayfield at 4.45pm.

Before that, North Berwick High School's under-16s will also face Queen Victoria School in their final, having progressed to the glamour tie after their semi-final victors Loretto were disqualified from the competition for fielding an ineligible player.

Ken Muir, head of youth rugby at North Berwick, said: “I'm delighted for the boys: they'll get their opportunity to play at Murrayfield in the final.”

The match will also take place at DAM Health Stadium, kicking off at 2.30pm.

Entry is free for all matches and people are encouraged to come along and cheer on Scotland’s young stars.
