AN INVESTIGATION into the pollution incident in the River Esk at Musselburgh remains ongoing and a further ecological survey is planned.

The oil-based spillage was first reported on January 14.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said this week: “We continue to work with partner agencies to monitor the controls in place to contain any remaining pollution, as well as continuing to monitor water quality.

“A further ecological survey will be carried out by SEPA as soon as water levels are low enough to allow this.

"Meanwhile, SEPA’s investigation remains ongoing.”
