A COCKENZIE woman was caught carrying a Stanley blade following an alleged incident at a county supermarket.
Lisa Bissett, 40, was being spoken to by police officers at the Farmfoods outlet on Musselburgh High Street when they had cause to search her.
During the body search, the officers discovered a six-centimetre blade on her person.
Last Tuesday, Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that Bissett informed police following the find: “I don’t like people touching me.”
Solicitor Robert More said that his client had been using the blade to “facilitate crack cocaine” and that she had a long-standing problem with illegal substances.
Mr More added that Bissett had been “struggling badly” with her addiction at the time of the offence and would welcome assistance from the court in the form of a drug treatment order.
The court was also told that Bissett, of High Street, carried out the offence on April 26 last year while on three bail orders.
Sheriff Douglas Keir agreed to defer sentence to next month for a drug treatment and testing order assessment to be carried out.
