Residents in the Musselburgh area are invited to join the Esk Valley Trust’s evening talks for 2022.

The talks aim to highlight topical issues, as well as reveal the delights and lesser-known aspects of the heritage of the Esk valleys.

Pauline Megson and Tom Parnell, of Historic Environment Scotland, will launch the programme by tracing the history of Mavisbank House and discussing its possible future.

Their talk takes place next Thursday (February 10) at 7.30pm.

On Thursday, April 28, at 7.30pm, aquatic ecologist Dr Iain Reid will give a talk about the fish of the Midlothian Esks, placed within the wider context of the Forth district, their present challenges and their future potential.

Plans for the future of the estate around Penicuik House will be discussed by Scott Hall, business director at Penicuik Estate, on Thursday, September 8, at 7.30pm.

Celebrated surgeon Sir William Fergusson, who was born within a couple of miles of the mouth of the Esk River, will be the subject of a talk by paediatric surgeon Peter Raine which takes place on Thursday, November 10, at 7.30pm.

These and other talks in the 2022 programme are open to everyone and are all held via Zoom.
