WEST Barns residents were temporarily left without water as planned repairs to a burst water main on Tuesday were unsuccessful.
The village has experienced 10 days of localised flooding, as the burst main caused water to seep through the tarmac and encroach on nearby homes.
Scottish Water has confirmed that Tuesday’s repair “did not hold” and a full replacement of the pipe is now required.
A spokesperson said: “Our contractors attempted to carry out the repair to a bend in a six-inch water pipe in Edinburgh Road, West Barns last night.
“Unfortunately, the repair did not hold and the pipe burst again after our contractors had left.
“Our teams have revisited the site and our contractors will be cutting out the impacted section of pipe [on Wednesday] and replacing it.
“Supplies to a small number of properties will be temporarily impacted while we carry out this work. We would like to thank residents for their ongoing patience.”
