COUNTY Covid-19 cases are continuing to fall as latest figures show 80 per cent of over 18s in the county have received a booster or third coronavirus vaccine.

Between January 16 and 22, 570 positive cases of the virus were recorded in the county, giving a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of 528.3.

A week earlier, between January 9 and 15, 740 cases of Covid-19 were recorded in East Lothian – a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of 694.2.

By comparison, Midlothian's current seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people is 482, West Lothian’s 476.6 and Edinburgh’s 520.6.

The current area of concern in East Lothian is Musselburgh East, recording 51 cases of Covid, giving it a seven-day positive rate of 1093.2.

Meanwhile, 80 per cent of East Lothian residents have now received a booster or third coronavirus vaccine.

As of today (Tuesday), 68,735 people over the age of 18 have received their third dose of a coronavirus vaccine. This equals 80 per cent of the population.

A total of 81,094 people have received their second dose, or 94. per cent of the population.

Almost all over-18s in East Lothian have received at least one dose – 83,670 people or 97.3 per cent.
