AN APPEAL has been made for board members to support the development of a Musselburgh-based mental health charity as it emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Changes Community Health Project, on Market Street, is on the hunt for about two to three volunteers who have a few hours to spare every six to eight weeks to support its work.

Manager Caitlin Rodgers said: “It’s a very exciting time for Changes and we are seeking new board members to support our strategic development and growth.

“Last year we celebrated our 25th birthday and began a process of digital transformation. We brought in specialist help to design a new logo and branding and went through a full website redesign. We worked with the community to refresh our vision, mission and values and developed a three-year strategic business plan.

“Our team found new ways of delivering our programme of supportive groups, courses and therapy amid the challenges of living through a pandemic. We introduced new supportive activities, including an anxiety management course, crisis handling training and a weekly book group.

“The Changes board meets with me every six to eight weeks on a Tuesday evening, currently on Zoom, but we hope to return to face-to-face meetings in Musselburgh at the earliest opportunity.

“The role of a board member is to support the manager to lead, control and supervise the organisation’s activities.”

She added “We are particularly keen to hear from people who have accessed support for their mental health with Changes or elsewhere, and are also keen to speak to people working within primary care, legal services and digital technology.”
