AN EAST Lothian charity providing care and support for individuals affected by learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health problems has been recognised for excellence following an independent assessment against EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management).
ELCAP, based in Prestonpans, received a 30-page feedback report from the team of international experts following a four-day virtual assessment visit.
The report found that the charity continued to work tirelessly through a challenging environment “in terms of competition, staffing and anticipated national approaches by focusing on the people it supports and the staff who support them” through the Covid-19 pandemic and by demonstrating “resilience and continuing to seek improvements”.
The EFQM Model – a prestigious business improvement model – is a globally recognised management framework that supports organisations in managing change and improving performance.
Paul White, ELCAP chief executive, said: “We were delighted to be recognised for excellence at four-star level following a thorough examination of our organisation by an expert quality improvement team.’’
