VISITORS to the festive market at historic Newhailes House were welcomed in festive fashion by The Honest Singers from Musselburgh.

The vocalists entertained everyone in true festive style in the courtyard at the National Trust for Scotland attraction in the lead-up to Christmas.

They performed a selection of Christmas carols, including Lie Low, which was written by choir leader Alison Vasey, and the New Year Carol, written by choir member Karen Austin.

The Honest Singers were formed as a result of an evening class which Alison taught at Fisherrow Community Centre.

“We are all enthusiastic members who just like singing and socialising,” said long-time choir member Yvonne Cunningham.

The group decided to meet and perform occasionally.

Past events have included busking to raise money for Marie Curie, Musselburgh-based CHANGES Community Health Project and Teapot Trust, which is also based in Musselburgh.
