KIND-HEARTED shoppers have raised thousands of pounds for three good causes.
Windygoul Nursery, Dementia Friendly Garden Tranent and Radio Saltire each received more than £2,000 thanks to Co-op customers.
Each year, the Co-op provides a membership handout to charities that apply for funding online.
Funds are then raised throughout the year via Co-op members shopping.
This year, Windygoul Nursery received £2,838.70, Dementia Friendly Garden Tranent was awarded £2,826.46 and Radio Saltire was given £2,355.63.
A spokeswoman for the Co-op said: “We try to get folk to enrol for this.
“Folk have said it’s the easiest one to do online and if they need funding for something then they should apply.
“Also, if folk take out a membership card for their local food store, which costs £1, they can then build up points and use them for food spend, and also get a discount on funerals and headstones.
“We want to be able to give back to the community, and loads of charities have benefited from it.
“Charities can also apply as many times as they want.”
