A county restaurant is celebrating in style after it scooped a top national award for the fourth year in a row at a glamorous ceremony in Glasgow.

Osteria, on North Berwick High Street, won Best Italian Restaurant Under 50 Seats at the Scottish Italian Awards 2021 at Glasgow’s Doubletree Hilton Hotel on Sunday.

The black tie event gathered the créme de la créme of the Italian hospitality community in Scotland, with around 700 people in attendance.

This is Osteria's fourth consecutive win of the award and the fifth time overall.

Angelo Cocchia, owner, was “absolutely chuffed” with the success.

He told the Courier: "It is excellent: we were absolutely not expecting it as we say every year we don't expect it but to win four times in a row out of all the talented competition is excellent.

"We have won the award five times now.

"The first time was in 2015, then 2017, 2018, 2019, no award ceremony in 2020 because of Covid, and now for the fifth time in 2021.

"To be able to go and collect the award was very nice.

"We were very chuffed to be there.

"It was nice to know people voted for us and the judges to appreciate what we are doing.

"We were flying high for a couple of days and now we are back to the ground and back to normality."

The Osteria team were congratulated by a number of supporters.

One Facebook user said: "Amazing restaurant, amazing food and more importantly amazing staff."

Another added: "Not surprised at all! Well done. This is what all your hard work is about, getting the recognition you deserve!

"Thank you for all the fantastic meals you have made for us."

A final comment read: "No surprise as your restaurant is perfection."
