A SURVEY on whether bells will ring at Knox Academy has come to an end.
Bells at the Haddington secondary school were silenced at the beginning of last month – other than marking the start of the day, end of break, lunch and end of the day.
The move was made amid claims it would encourage better time management and a reduction in anxiety for youngsters with additional support needs.
Speaking on Friday, Sue Cook, headteacher at the school, said: “A survey has been sent to all pupils and staff for their views on whether this is retained or not.
“The survey closes at midday today and pupils, staff and parents/carers will be notified of any changes next week.
“If we do revert to bells at the end of each period, this would not take effect until Monday.”
