A SELFLESS mum-of-two from East Linton will sleep under the stars this weekend to raise money for Homeless Project Scotland.

Tracey Sadek-Moore, who turns 40 this Saturday, is celebrating her milestone birthday by “donating her 40 winks” in a sleepout for the homeless, together with her close friend, A&E worker Gillian Wishart, from Livingston.

The HR consultant told the Courier that, instead of planning a party or big getaway for her big birthday, she would sleep in the freezing cold in the height of winter tomorrow evening (Friday) to raise money to provide hot meals to those in need across Scotland over the festive period.

She said: “This year, we would like to see in my special birthday in support of those who find themselves facing this winter alone, cold, hungry and in fear.

“Homelessness is at an all-time high and we’ll be putting ourselves in their shoes for one night, braving whatever East Linton’s elements may want to throw at us on the evening of December 3 as we sleep out for Homeless Project Scotland.

“Other than ‘are you both crazy?’, we have been asked how can you stay safe, survive sub zero temperatures, stay dry and warm, what if something should happen to you?

“These are all very good questions and we cannot imagine having to ask ourselves these every day, uncertain of the answers with nowhere to turn to.”

The duo are seeking help from the community to donate funds to support those “who have no warmth, no home and nowhere to feel safe”.

“Together, let’s give some festive hope and hope for the future,” Tracey added.

Homeless Project Scotland is a non-profit organisation set up in 2019 to help and support the homeless and vulnerable across Scotland.

So far, the duo have raised over £1,000 for the charity.
