Work has been halted in part of a new housing development after animal burrows were discovered.
Scottish housebuilder Ambassador Living has broke ground on fields at Barbachlaw Farm to provide a mixture of three, four and five-bedroom homes, including 24 affordable homes.
The new development, called Wallace Park, will see two executive show homes launched next summer.
A spokesperson for Ambassador Living said: "During our initial site clearance works at Wallace Park, we have unearthed what may possibly be animal burrows within an area of the site. We have appointed an ecologist to investigate and advise on these burrows.
"This investigation is ongoing and we currently await confirmation as to whether or not the burrows are active, what animal may be using them and what actions are advised. We can confirm that no further works will be carried out within the vicinity of the burrows until the report is received and any recommended actions are complete."
