AN OPERA group will return to the stage this month for the first time since the beginning of lockdown – and after more than a year and a half without live performances.

Opera East Lothian last performed at the beginning of 2020 and was devastated when its Easter charity concert and following performances were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The musical company is now back with an evening of operatic favourites, performing at The Strawberry Barn, Thistly Cross, near West Barns.

John Marshall, music director, said: “The chorus cannot wait to sing to a live audience again.

“We would normally be performing an opera in November to around 300 people but we are keeping our concert very informal and low key, with safety in mind.

“We are also excited to be at The Strawberry Barn, presenting our concert in a cabaret style for the first time.”

Opera East Lothian will also host a raffle on the night, with prizes including an NB Gin tour, Sunday lunch at La Potinière in Gullane and a one-night stay at The Plough Inn, Leitholm, in the Scottish Borders.

The evening starts at 7.30pm on Saturday (November 13).
