WORK on a site earmarked for a second drive-thru coffee shop on the outskirts of Haddington is under way.
Coffee shop giants Costa Coffee have already opened their cafe at Haddington Retail Park.
Now, they could be joined by Starbucks, with work on the neighbouring Gateside West site started recently.
The plans for the coffee shop, lodged by company Euro Garages, were approved by East Lothian Council two years ago.
Starbucks was not named on the initial plans but drawings included within the application feature the company’s logo.
A spokesperson for the international chain was keeping tight-lipped about any proposals.
They said: “We are always looking for new locations and opportunities to bring the Starbucks experience to customers in the UK, but at this time we have no news to share about plans at Haddington."
