A COUNCILLOR has handed over a cheque and a donation of food to a community pantry in Tranent on behalf of a caring businessman.
Ward councillor Kenny McLeod visited Fa’side Community Pantry to represent Alex Brown, owner of Ideal Flooring Solutions, Musselburgh.
The pantry, based in the Volunteer Centre East Lothian office on Tranent High Street, aims to complement East Lothian Foodbank – also based in the town – by providing food and essentials to those in need. It operates Monday to Friday, from 9.30am until noon, and opened in November 2019.
Kenny said: “I had the privilege of handing over another fantastic donation from Alex Brown.
“The cheque was for £200 and there was a very large selection of mostly tinned food too.
“It is very important that we support our local community groups like the community pantry as much as we possibly can as they are a lifeline to some in our area.”
Kenny is pictured handing over the cheque to Maureen Allan and Tracey Redpath of Volunteer Centre East Lothian.
