THE new Scott Glynn MBE Suite at Ross High Rugby Club has been officially opened.

The event was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, with those at Ross High RFC waiting until restrictions eased.

Two events were held: one last Friday, for sponsors and special invitees, and one on Saturday for the wider community.

Club president John Tinlin said: “Both events went very well. It was quite an emotional evening. There were quite a lot of tears and total mixed emotions.

“It was just really nice to get everyone together – it’s also our 50th anniversary and we’ve not had a chance to get people together. All of the events and things tied in together really well.

“Former presidents and members all came together. Some of the guys hadn’t seen each other for about 20 years. We had about 100 people in on the Friday and about 80 on the Saturday.

“Scott’s wife Carol wasn’t able to be there due to a prior engagement but she left a message which I read out to everyone.

“The family are all just delighted at what we are doing for Scott’s memory.”

The new hall has been named the Scott Glynn MBE Suite, after the club’s former president of 10 years, who died on January 1, 2020. He also founded local charity the Walk With Scott Foundation.
