LIFESAVING equipment at Fisherrow Harbour has been vandalised.

Groups of youths have been jumping into the water and then pulling at the life rings causing them to be damaged, with a number of them also being thrown into the sea.

Police have warned of the potentially “serious repercussions” of the actions after visiting the Musselburgh harbour this morning (Wednesday).

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Details have been noted and enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“This act could have serious repercussions should that safety equipment be required and it not being there.
