PART of a road near Tranent’s Co-op store and Windygoul Primary School has been made safer by the installation of a new puffin crossing.
There were roadworks at a section of Brotherstone’s Way for 15 days, with work there due to come to an end on Tuesday.
The work was carried out by East Lothian Council and saw the existing pedestrian crossing upgraded to a new puffin crossing.
Puffin crossings have red and green lights on the same side of the road as the user, rather than the opposite side of the road. They also have sensors that can detect when pedestrians have safely crossed the road and when they are waiting on the pavement; they do not have flashing amber lights for drivers.
