A TRANENT man has been cleared of being abusive towards his wife.
Guillaume Bettayeb was alleged to have engaged in a course of conduct said to have been abusive towards the woman.
Mr Bettayeb, of Tollhouse Grove, was alleged to have shouted at the woman and referred to her in a demeaning and derogatory manner during alleged incidents between April 1, 2019, and May 31 last year.
The 42-year-old was also alleged to have undermined his wife’s parenting, as well as allegedly attempting to alienate her from her family.
Prosecutors also alleged that Mr Bettayeb attempted to regulate the woman’s movements outside the family home and on occasions threatened her with violence.
He stood trial over three days at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and, following all the evidence being heard, Sheriff Robert Fife found Mr Bettayeb not guilty of all the charges.
