THE number of cases of coronavirus in East Lothian has soared to another all-time high, with every part of East Lothian recording more than three cases each in the last seven days for the first time in several months.

However, no new deaths from the virus have been recorded in East Lothian.

Here is the latest data from Public Health Scotland explained.

Latest figures

A total of 279 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in East Lothian between June 14 and 20.

This gives the county a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 population of 260.5 and a test positivity rate of 6.7 per cent.

This is 50 cases higher than the figures announced yesterday (Tuesday) for the period between June 13 and 19, when 229 were recorded.

Figures revealed on Monday for between June 12 and 18 had been the highest East Lothian had recorded since the start of the pandemic, a record that has now been broken on each of the past two days.

Before this week, the previous highest rate ever recorded in the county had been 181.2 per 100,000 population, which was recorded in December last year.
