A YELLOW canary has been found in a garden in North Berwick and the search is on to find its owner.

The bird landed in Matt and Helena Armstrong's garden on Craigleith Avenue on Friday afternoon.

Matt said he was surprised to see the canary in his garden and added: "The wee yellow bird seemed pretty happy and enjoyed some seeds and water.

"We called the Scottish SPCA who strongly suggested that it was at risk from predators and that we should try to catch it.

"On the third attempt it was gently released into a box from my fly fishing landing net. A nice lady from SSPCA came to collect it."

The owner is being asked to come forward and contact the SSPCA; if they do not the bird will be rehomed by the charity.
