A LONG-SERVING veterinary practice in Dunbar is expanding.

Planning permission has been given to Links Veterinary Group by East Lothian Council to change a Spott Industrial Estate unit into a veterinary surgery.

Currently, the business is based on West Port and open 28 hours per week over four days. The move will lead to the practice being open from 8.30am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, a total of 42.5 hours.

According to the planning officer’s report: “A move to larger premises will allow diversification and extension of services and will justify the practice in investing in a full-time receptionist, full-time vet and full-time veterinary nurse.”

Internal changes are planned, with the creation of a consulting room, treatment room, store and preparation area, alongside a reception and waiting area.

Links Veterinary Group, which also has branches in Haddington, Musselburgh, North Berwick and Prestonpans, has been based in Dunbar for more than 30 years.
