A NEW beauty salon has opened on Tranent High Street.

A part-retrospective planning application has been submitted by Dominic Notarangelo from Padrino Design on behalf of Morena Morgan for 69A High Street to turn it from Ferguson’s Pet Supplies into a beauty salon, also including make-up and manicure services.

The store is on the north-west side of High Street, opposite McKinnon Forbes estate agents and Joe’s Tranent Fish Bar.

As well as a change of use, the application also states that the front door needs to be replaced, with repairs and redecoration required to the shop front, seeing the door and frame taken off and replaced with a new, bigger door to fit the original size and space, with cladding above the door also stripped out to reveal decorative ironwork.

Repairs and replacement works to the sign space above the shop windows and doors have also been carried out and the new shop sign would installed – painted gold letters to read the name of the shop ‘The Good Beauty Club’.

Works have been carried out to expose the original timber and glazing. The rest of the shop front has also been repaired and painted dark grey.

Repairs to the shopfront already began before the planning application was lodged, supported by a grant from the council. This is work that does not require consent.

The salon plans to open Monday-Saturday, 9am-6pm.

Inside the store, none of the existing doors are to change, with the layout the same as that of the pet shop.

Plans show two treatment stations will be installed inside the proposed new store, along with a reception and customer waiting area.
