A MAN charged with murdering his mother and dumping her body in East Lothian is to stand trial later this year.
Sean Flynn, 37, is alleged to have killed his mother Louise Tiffney at a flat in Dean Path, Edinburgh, on May 27 or 28, 2002.
He is also facing a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
It is alleged that Flynn, who lives in Berlin, assaulted his mother, aged 43, by means unknown before allegedly driving to a wood near Gosford House and disposing of her body there.
Flynn, who previously lodged pleas of not guilty to the charges, was excused attendance at a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow but his QC Brian McConnachie lodged a special defence of incrimination.
A trial date was set for October 18 in Livingston.
