TRANENT High Street has re-opened after strong winds previously forced its closure.
East Lothian Council took the decision to close the busy street this afternoon (Tuesday) while “urgent” building inspection works took place.
However, the council confirmed that the street had been re-opened at about 6.30pm.
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said on Wednesday: “As a result of strong winds on Tuesday afternoon, we were called out at around 2pm to inspect a weather vane on the roof of a building on Tranent High Street.
"The road was closed as a precaution while these works took place.
"It was decided to remove the weather vane before the road re-opened around 6.30pm.
"The emergency services were in attendance, as well as a steeplejack, with support provided by multiple council services.”
