A TRANENT man has been jailed after admitting making threats towards police officers.
Gordon Shields, of Caponhall Drive, behaved in a threatening or abusive manner and repeatedly shouted, swore and uttered threats while inside a police vehicle and being taken to St Leonard’s Police Station in Edinburgh.
Shields, 37, had been arrested on a separate matter which was no longer before the courts when he made the offensive remarks on January 6.
Sheriff John Cook sentenced Shields to an 81-day custodial sentence backdated to January 7 when he appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday.
Shields pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering threats at Edinburgh Road, Cockenzie, and within a police vehicle en route to St Leonard’s Police Station on January 6.
