THE death of a father from East Lothian whose body was found last month is now being treated as murder.

The body of Craig Sneddon, from Wallyford, was found beside a burning off-road motorcycle on land off Hadfast Road near Cousland in Midlothian – near to Ormiston, Carberry and the route of the Pencaitland Railway Walk – at about 9.20am on January 17.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The death of a man in Midlothian on Sunday, January 17, is now being treated as murder.

“The man was found on a path close to the A68 near Cousland around 9.20am.

“He has now been formally identified as 41-year-old Craig Sneddon, from Wallyford.”

Jordan Dickson, 25, from Musselburgh, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Police previously issued an appeal for information to establish what happened to Craig, a former Musselburgh Grammar School pupil.

Following Craig’s death, hundreds of tributes were left by family, friends and neighbours.

A fundraising page was also set up to help his family, with more than £4,200 raised.
