THE latest coronavirus figures for East Lothian are almost half of what they were a month ago.

Data from Public Health Scotland has shown the number of positive cases of the virus in the county has again decreased, a trend seen through most of the month of November.

Between November 21 and 27, 59 positive cases were recorded in East Lothian, with the county’s seven-day figure per 100,000 of the population being 55.1. One new case was recorded yesterday (Sunday).

This is below the 66 cases and seven-day rate of 61.6 which the county was sitting at on Saturday.

However, despite this decrease, the current figures remain slightly higher than what they were a week ago.

Seven days ago (November 14-20), there were 53 positive cases recorded and the seven-day rate was 49.5.

The figures are almost half of what they were a month ago (October 21-27), when 117 cases were recorded and the seven-day rate was sitting at 109.3.

East Lothian’s figures remain the lowest in the Lothian region and the ninth lowest in Scotland.

Edinburgh’s seven-day rate is now sitting at 71.8, Midlothian's at 74.6 and West Lothian's at 137.6.

Data from Public Health Scotland shows that three parts of East Lothian are currently areas of concern.

All three are new areas of concern, with a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 of the population of 100 or more.

The three are Prestonpans West, Musselburgh South and Haddington South.

In the seven days up to November 26, Prestonpans West recorded nine cases, Musselburgh South recorded six cases and Haddington South recorded five cases.

Wallyford and Whitecraig and Musselburgh East were featured on the list at the end of last week but, due to a decrease in cases, were removed.

More than half of East Lothian has a seven-day rate per 100,000 of the population that is less than 49, with East Linton and Rural recording no cases in the seven days up to November 27.

Across Scotland today, 369 new cases were reported, 48 of which were in the Lothian healthboard area, with three new deaths recorded among those who had previously tested positive.

Today’s figures for Scotland are slightly lower than expected due to a technical issue.
