A NORTH Berwick resident raised in Dirleton has been appointed to the House of Lords as Scotland’s new Advocate General.
Keith Stewart QC was introduced into the House on November 9, taking the title Lord Stewart of Dirleton.
Lord Stewart attended Dirleton Primary School and George Heriot’s School, Edinburgh, before going to Keble College, Oxford, then the Universities of Edinburgh and Strathclyde.
He was called to the Bar in 1993 and took silk as a QC in 2011. He specialises in criminal law and has advised in other matters such as defamation and intellectual property.
The Advocate General for Scotland is one of the Law Officers of the Crown, who advise the government on Scots law.
