A SECOND positive coronavirus test has been confirmed at Ross High School in Tranent.

The news was revealed in a statement to parents and carers today (Wednesday).

It said: “We are aware of person from the school who has tested positive for Covid-19.

“We understand that this is a worrying time but would like to reassure you that we are working closely with NHS Lothian Health Protection Team and following all national guidance.”

A number of people are currently being contacted because they may have been in close and sustained contact with the case and will now need to self-isolate.

They will all be given appropriate guidance and advice.

The tracking and tracing process is still underway and an update will be sent out when it is complete.

Those who have not been contacted directly and told their child is a close contact should not self-isolate and their child should continue to attend school as normal if they are well.

Enhanced cleaning and infection control measures are in place in line with national guidance.

The school is safe and remains open.

Those with concerns should visit www.nhsinform.scot or call 0800 028 2816.

Ross High confirmed its first case on September 23.
