A BRIDGE dating back to the 16th century is winning fans on a popular internet site.
The popularity of the Nungate Bridge, which links The Sands and Bridge Street, was highlighted during a meeting of Haddington’s community council last month.
Therese Laing, who joined the group earlier this year, noted the bridge was attracting positive reviews on TripAdvisor.
She said: “There are a whole lot of lovely comments from people and how happy they were to visit Haddington.”
The bridge is ranked at number three in terms of things to do in Haddington, with comments including: “Fabulous! The stone from St Mary’s Church is the same stone as it is for the bridge. The views and history are good and watching and feeding the birds are a treat”, and “Haddington’s got lots of lovely walks around it and this bridge is fairly indicative of how pretty the area and village are. You can see plenty of waterfowl and the odd fly fisher on the river.”
