BUSES have been damaged in Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton by youths throwing things at them.
An increase in youth-related anti-social behaviour has been reported to police, who have warned it is “unacceptable and will not be tolerated”.
Additional police officers from national departments will work alongside dedicated local officers in a bid to tackle the issue.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Over the past few evenings, we have had complaints regarding damage to buses from youths throwing items, as well as general disorder.
“This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“Local officers are reviewing CCTV and enquiry is ongoing to trace those responsible.
“East Lothian Council wardens and their CCTV van has been deployed to the area alongside police.
“If you see any disorder, please report it immediately on the normal numbers and if you know the name of the culprits or have a good description please let us know.”
The Police Scotland spokesman also urged parents and carers of children who were thought to be involved to do “all you can” to prevent them from meeting up.
