AN ANNUAL fundraiser has collected more than £3,500 by serving up coffee and cakes.
Haddington hairdresser Catherine Alexander has held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support for a number of years.
The event proved increasingly popular and last year was moved to Haddington Town House instead of its usual venue at Short Cuts Hairdressing, on nearby Market Street.
Catherine, who has owned the salon for nearly 20 years, was pleased to say that this year’s event still managed to raise a substantial amount of money, despite coronavirus restrictions.
This year’s peckish customers stopped off outside the hairdressing salon on September 25.
Catherine said: “We had a very successful outside stall for the Macmillan coffee morning.”
She added: “The ‘bag, buy and go’ was definitely the way to go and we raised £3,650. We had a steady flow of customers throughout the day and the heavy rain shower didn’t stop us.
“We certainly didn’t expect to raise so much this year but we have such strong support from all our clients; we could not do it without them.”
