A HADDINGTON man has been banned from the road after he drove dangerously through a set of roadworks in the town.
Alistair Lawson, 78, went through a red light and drove at excessive speeds through the works in the town earlier this year.
Lawson appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, where he pleaded guilty to the offence in front of Sheriff John Cook.
Lawson, of the town’s Market Street, was handed a four-year driving ban and told he must sit the extended test if he wants to get back on the road.
He was also fined £300, with an added £20 victim surcharge to be paid.
Lawson admitted the dangerous driving charge, which took place at the A199 at the junctions with Hospital Road and the A1 in Haddington, on February 20.
